Marcelo da Veiga is Professor of Philosophy and Society and Director of the Institute for Education and Social Innovation (ibugi) at the Alanus University of Art and Society, where he served as Founding Rector and Rector from 2002 to 2017. As a result of his many years of professional experience in (university) education, he also advises various national and international educational partners.
The professorship for Philosophy and Society focuses on the combination of philosophical thinking with the topics of education and social responsibility in business.
This is also reflected in the activities of the ibugi. It works interdisciplinary in research and teaching and focuses on the topic of education as the basis of social and economic innovation. The ibugi cooperates with institutional partners such as universities, colleges and other educational institutions as well as with companies and individuals to achieve its goals. This also includes the supervision of doctorates in the fields of philosophy, education and social innovation at Alanus University or in cooperation with other universities.
It also organises its own project series and academic training courses as well as conferences in cooperation with partner organisations and companies. Its fields of activity also include the Centre for Social Entrepreneurship Bonn (CESEB), a forum for initiative individuals and institutions in Bonn and the region who feel connected to the basic idea and core concerns of social entrepreneurship and who actively support a sustainable and liveable society.
